All are welcome (ages 16+). All personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies are provided. Please wear long pants and sturdy\, closed-toe shoes. DESCRIPTION:UCP 5K Community Run & Walk • August 15 \n👟Go at your own pace and compete to collect the most trash in one loop around Lake Merritt \n🌎We’re hosting a fun\, community 5K around the lake to celebrate the progress we’ve made together across Oakland. And\, also\, Earth Month in August because every month is earth month 😬 \n💪Over the past few years\, Urban Compassion Project has cleared millions of pounds of illegal dumping\, mobilized more than 4\,000 volunteers\, fought for systemic change\, and supported thousands of individuals living on the fringes. This run is about honoring that impact\, the people behind it\, and our planet. \nCheck-in: 10:00–10:30 AM\nRun start: 11:00 AM (after brief intros and volunteer awards)\nEvent ends: 1:00 PM\nLocation: Lake Merritt – Check back for starting location\nRegistration: $35 (sign-up fees directly support UCP’s operations\, helping us continue cleanups\, outreach\, and community-driven work across Oakland) \n👕The first 100 registrants will receive a UCP 5k 2026 commemorative t-shirt! \n*If you’ve registered for the original April event there is no need to register again \n🌯We’ll have food provided by our incredible partner Taqueria Azteca\, and we’ll be celebrating some of the volunteers who have shown up again and again to make this work possible. \n💞Come to hang out\, walk\, run\, clean\, and enjoy our beautiful lake \n \n
